Later that night, her mother sat beside her, choosing her words carefully.

“What do you usually do during bath time?” she asked softly.

Lily didn’t respond right away. Instead, she looked down, her small hands gripping her stuffed toy tightly.

After a long pause, she whispered something that immediately raised alarm.

“Daddy said I shouldn’t talk about it.”

There was no clear explanation, no details—just hesitation and fear.

Her mother stayed calm, reassuring her that she could speak freely and would not get into trouble. But Lily grew quiet again, unable to say more.

That silence was enough.

Sometimes, what a child doesn’t say can be just as important as what they do.

That night, sleep didn’t come easily. Questions filled her mother’s mind, along with a growing sense that something wasn’t right.
