3. The Truth and What Truly Matters

We returned to the clinic to review our records and ask questions. At first, everything appeared normal. But after a deeper look, a small detail stood out—something in the documentation suggested that a change had been made during the process.

When we spoke with the doctor, we learned that there may have been an error involving the samples used. It was possible that the embryo used in the surrogacy process was not the one originally intended.

This was not the news we expected, and it left us with many unanswered questions. The situation was complicated, and there were procedures in place to investigate further.

Over time, my mother also came to see things differently. What initially frightened her became something she accepted with understanding. She realized that family is not defined only by biology, but by love, care, and commitment.

In the end, this experience taught us something powerful: life does not always follow the plan we create, but that does not make it any less meaningful.

Lily was not a mistake. She was our child.

And that truth was stronger than anything else.
