Directions
- Lay the bread slices on a clean surface and spread butter evenly on one side of each slice. This will be the outer side that turns golden and crisp when grilled.
- Flip two slices over and place the cheese evenly on the unbuttered side. Make sure the cheese reaches close to the edges for maximum melt in every bite.
- Add any optional ingredients like tomato slices or cooked chicken if desired, then top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing outward.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or pan over medium-low heat. Avoid high heat to ensure the bread doesn’t burn before the cheese melts.
- Place the sandwiches in the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes on one side until golden brown and crisp. Press gently with a spatula for even toasting.
- Carefully flip and cook the other side for another 3–4 minutes, until both sides are golden and the cheese inside is melted and gooey.
- Remove from the pan and let rest for 1 minute before slicing in half. This helps the melted cheese settle slightly.
- Serve warm while the cheese is still stretchy and delicious.
