Directions

  1. Lay the bread slices on a clean surface and spread butter evenly on one side of each slice. This will be the outer side that turns golden and crisp when grilled.
  2. Flip two slices over and place the cheese evenly on the unbuttered side. Make sure the cheese reaches close to the edges for maximum melt in every bite.
  3. Add any optional ingredients like tomato slices or cooked chicken if desired, then top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing outward.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or pan over medium-low heat. Avoid high heat to ensure the bread doesn’t burn before the cheese melts.
  5. Place the sandwiches in the pan and cook for 3–4 minutes on one side until golden brown and crisp. Press gently with a spatula for even toasting.
  6. Carefully flip and cook the other side for another 3–4 minutes, until both sides are golden and the cheese inside is melted and gooey.
  7. Remove from the pan and let rest for 1 minute before slicing in half. This helps the melted cheese settle slightly.
  8. Serve warm while the cheese is still stretchy and delicious.
