Yesterday I was on set watching Emma adjust an actress’ collar while Clara pinned a hem. They moved with confidence, their hands were sure and skillful.

He nodded then returned to his camera.
Emma felt me standing there and called, “Dad, what does that sound like? “
“Perfect”, I said, my eyes brimming with emotion. “Just like you. “

Last night we were sitting in our apartment (the same cramped space that Lauren had made fun of), eating takeout and laughing at something stupid Clara had said on set.
It was wealth and success. That was all that mattered.
Lauren had chosen fame and found emptiness. We chose each other.
