Part 3: The Moment of Truth
Slowly, the night gave way to morning.
The sky outside the window shifted from darkness to soft shades of blue. Time moved forward, whether I was ready or not.
Then the door opened again.
A nurse stepped in and said it was time.
Everything suddenly felt real.
My heart started racing. My hands felt cold. The moment I had been trying not to think about was finally here.
My mom held one hand. My dad held the other.
“I love you,” my mom said, her voice trembling.
“I love you too,” I replied.
My dad looked at me, trying to stay strong.
“See you after,” he said.
I nodded… but deep inside, uncertainty still lingered.
As they began to move my bed toward the door, I looked back at them one last time. They stood side by side, trying to smile through their fear.
And in that moment, something became clear.
No matter what happens… I am not alone.
As the doors opened and I was taken inside, I took a deep breath.
This was it.
The moment that could change everything.
And just before everything faded, one last thought crossed my mind—
When I open my eyes again…
I hope the first thing I see is love.
