2. An Honest Conversation

After the celebration ended, we returned home feeling both happy and tired from the exciting day.

I went to take off my makeup and change clothes. When I came back into the room, Ryan was sitting quietly, looking thoughtful.

He didn’t seem unhappy, but it was clear that something was on his mind.

When I asked him what was wrong, he took a deep breath before answering.

“There’s something I should have told you a long time ago,” he said.

His voice was calm but serious.

Ryan explained that he had been thinking about a moment from the past that had connected our lives in an unexpected way. For years, he had been unsure about how or when to explain it.

He didn’t want to start our marriage while keeping something important unsaid.

Although I was surprised, I appreciated his honesty. I could see that it had taken courage for him to speak about it.

Ryan told me that the event where we first met involved more people than I realized. There were details he had never mentioned before because he was worried about how I might react.

After saying this, he stepped outside for a moment to gather his thoughts.

His words stayed in my mind, and I wondered what he meant.

During the next few days, Ryan seemed quieter than usual. It was clear he was still thinking about the conversation we had started.

Eventually, I knew we needed to finish it.
