Not long after the call, a car arrived at the construction site. A couple rushed out, visibly overwhelmed with emotion. The mother embraced the boy tightly, while the father expressed deep gratitude to Miguel.
Wanting to thank him properly, they invited him to a nearby café. Though hesitant at first, Miguel agreed to join them briefly.
The café was quiet and simple, filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. As they sat together, the conversation began naturally—questions about work, daily life, and background.
When asked about his family, Miguel admitted that he had grown up in an orphanage and had no known relatives. His tone was calm, but there was a hint of distance, as though he had long learned not to dwell on the subject.
At that moment, something shifted.
The woman, Elena, began to look at him more closely. There was a sense of recognition in her expression—something she could not immediately explain. She asked about his age, his childhood, and whether he had any item left from his early years.
Miguel hesitated before recalling a small detail: a worn red cloth bracelet he had kept since childhood, despite not knowing its significance.
The atmosphere changed instantly.
Elena’s reaction was unmistakable. Her hands trembled, and her voice became unsteady as she asked one more question—whether the bracelet had a small stitched letter.
When Miguel confirmed it, silence filled the room.
It was no longer just a conversation.
