Directions
- Prepare the cod: Pat cod strips dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt, pepper, and paprika to enhance flavor.
- Coat the fish: Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder (and Parmesan, if using) in a third. Dip each cod strip first in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure the coating sticks well.
- Fry or air-fry the strips:
- Fry: Heat oil in a skillet to 180°C (350°F). Fry strips 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Air-fry: Lightly spray coated strips with oil. Air-fry at 200°C (400°F) for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway through.
Drain on paper towels if fried.
- Make the tartar sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, chopped pickles, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, capers (if using), and herbs. Mix well, then season with salt and pepper. Chill for at least 15 minutes to let flavors meld.
- Serve & enjoy: Arrange crispy cod strips on a plate with tartar sauce and fresh lemon wedges. Pair with fries, coleslaw, or a simple green salad for a classic meal.
