Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the beef ribs with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar or honey, and black pepper. Mix well until the ribs are evenly coated.
  2. Cover and let the ribs marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
  3. Heat cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  4. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  5. Place the marinated beef ribs into the pan and sear them on all sides until lightly browned and aromatic.
  6. Pour in the water and reduce the heat to low.
  7. Cover the pan and let the ribs simmer gently for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  8. Remove the lid and continue cooking until the sauce thickens and transforms into a glossy caramelized glaze coating the ribs.
  9. Once tender and sticky, remove from heat and garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
  10. Serve hot with steamed rice for the ultimate comfort meal.
