Directions
- Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shrimp, grated carrot, green onions, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until evenly combined. - Assemble the Siomai
Place a wonton wrapper on your palm. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of filling into the center. Gather the sides of the wrapper around the filling, leaving the top slightly open. Lightly press to shape into a small cylinder. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling. - Optional Topping
Place a small piece of corn, carrot, or parsley on top of each siomai for garnish. - Steam the Siomai
Prepare a steamer and line with parchment paper or lightly grease the tray. Arrange siomai in a single layer, leaving a little space between each. Steam over boiling water for 10–12 minutes, until fully cooked and firm to the touch. - Serve
Transfer siomai to a plate and serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce—soy sauce with calamansi or lemon juice, with or without chili garlic sauce.
