Part 1: A Father Who Chose Me
Last month, I reflected on the life of the man who adopted me when I was three. Thomas gave me love, guidance, and stability—a father in every sense of the word.
His home still carried the warmth of his presence: his reading glasses on the side table, the coffee mug I painted for him years ago, and the books he loved on the shelves. Even though he was gone, the care he had put into his home reminded me of the countless ways he had shown his love.
Three days after his passing, I discovered a note and a small flash drive in the mailbox. The note said:
"Thomas gave you everything he had. There are parts of his story you may not know. Watch the flash drive to learn more."
My heart raced as I wondered what I might learn about the man who had always been my hero.
