Part 2: A Discovery That Changes Everything
On the night of the wedding, the young woman found herself unable to sleep. The large house felt unfamiliar and cold, far removed from the modest home she had always known. As she walked through the quiet hallway, she noticed a faint light coming from a nearby office.
Curious and uneasy, she approached the slightly open door.
Inside, documents were spread across a desk. At first, she hesitated, knowing it was not right to look through someone else’s papers. But something caught her attention—a medical report bearing a date, a signature, and the seal of a clinic.
As she read, her heart began to race.
The report clearly stated that the landowner was in good health, with no sign of a serious illness. There was no mention of a limited lifespan or any condition that would justify his earlier claims.
Nearby, she found another document—a legal contract. It outlined a condition tied to his inheritance: he was required to have a child within a year in order to retain ownership of a large estate left to him by a relative. If no child was born within that time, the marriage could be dissolved, leaving her with nothing.
In that moment, the truth became undeniable.
The proposal had never been about compassion or urgency. It was a calculated decision designed to secure his inheritance. Her situation, her emotions, and her trust had all been used to achieve his goal.
What she had believed to be an act of mutual benefit was, in reality, a carefully constructed arrangement based on deception.
