The next morning, everything seemed normal—too normal. There was no acknowledgment of what had happened. No conversation. No apology.

Days passed, but the feeling stayed. My mother-in-law’s presence became constant, influencing decisions and spaces that should have belonged to us as a couple. And each time, my husband avoided conflict instead of addressing it.

For the first time, he listened.
Truly listened.
And eventually, he responded. He acknowledged what had happened and, in a difficult moment, set a boundary when his mother returned again. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a step.
