Part 2: Why Salt Water Makes Them Appear
You might wonder why you don’t see anything until you soak the berries.
When berries are placed in salt water, the salty environment creates a condition that causes the larvae to move out of the fruit. This reaction makes them visible, even though they were already inside beforehand.
This doesn’t mean the berries suddenly became contaminated—it simply reveals what was already there.
In fact, soaking fruit in salt or vinegar water is sometimes used as a cleaning method to help remove hidden impurities.
